Korean quartet FIFTY FIFTY pre-released the video for their latest single “CUPID” a day ahead of their EP album, The Beginning: Cupid.

The video stars members Keena, Saena, Sio, and Aran singing around various locations in town before taking to a glitzy stage in the sky to perform a dance routine.

“CUPID” is the title track on FIFTY FIFTY’s latest EP album and will be available to fans in two editions: Nerd and Black.

The album marks the group’s first comeback since they debuted under newcomer label ATTRAKT last November with their first EP The Fifty featuring lead track “Higher”.

Since then they’ve gained growing popularity with tracks such as “Lovin’ Me” and “Log In”, with Grammy listing the group one of the top 10 K-pop rookie girl groups to watch this year.

Writing after FIFTY FIFTY’s debut, Grammy said: “The quartet displays various colours and a vocal maturity that is both hard to find and crucial to have.”

Acknowledging their growing support, the group coincided their comeback with the announcement of an official fandom name, HUNNIES. The name was chosen off the back of a fan naming competition FIFTY FIFTY ran earlier in the year.

Taking to Twitter to share the news, FIFTY FIFTY said: “Dear HUNNIES, who are together with us for a new start! Build only pleasant memories with us ❤ Thank you HUNNIES for participating in the fandom name contest.”

“CUPID” is the lead track on FIFTY FIFTY’s latest EP album: The Beginning: Cupid.

The name represents the coming together of two halves: FIFTY FIFTY members and the group's fans. When these two halves combine they make 100, which has been abbreviated to HUNNIES.

“One of the meanings of FIFTY FIFTY combines the members and their fans in which the first “50” or “half” represents the fans, and the other “half” represents themselves, combining those two makes 100 or a “whole,” the group confirmed.

However, the name also has a secondary meaning and aims to reflect the love the members hold for their stans.

“It also means “honey” used as an affectionate term of endearment between loved ones,” FIFTY FIFTY explained.

The new name is also accompanied by the official adoption of emojis which include the 100 emoji and the honey pot emoji.

Fans took to Twitter to share their delight at the official naming.

“Hunnie squad at the ready, next up the light stick for Fifty Fifty,” said one fan.

“I LOVE IT! IT’S PERFECT!” said another.

FIFTY FIFTY includes leader, main dancer and sub-rapper Saena, who previously featured as a contestant on TV show Dancing High. Alongside her are main rapper Keena, main vocalist Sio, and vocalist, rapper, and maknae, Aran.
