Whether you’re watching at a party with friends, in your garden, or on a long flight, these dramas are perfect.

Our Beloved Summer

It really is in the name, isn’t it? Our Beloved Summer (2021) brings back that nostalgic feeling of your first love, getting butterflies, and high school and summer holidays.

It’s a coming-of-age story about a couple who broke up years ago and were forced to come together after a documentary they did went viral. This drama personifies ‘Hot Girl Summer’ and ‘Sad Girl Summer’ in one drama that spans a decade.

Lovely Runner

This drama has been a hit this year, and with reason. Many of us have wanted to go back in time to redo the mistakes we have made in our lives, and Lovely Runner (2024) is exactly that. Devastated by the death of her favourite idol, Im Sol (played by Kim Hye-yoon) goes back in time to 2008 to save him.

For one, the soundtrack for this drama is fantastic, particularly “Spring Snow” by 10CM. Although the name doesn’t show summer, that song brings you back to that lighter period of your life that you take for granted.

Doctor Slump

To all the working people out there, I’m sure there have been many times when you’ve felt burned out and exhausted from your job, and a part of you just wants to take the plunge and quit to re-evaluate exactly what you want in life. If so, you’ll empathise with the characters in this drama.

K-drama legend actress Park Shin-Hye returns after her pregnancy to the drama Doctor Slump (2024). It’s about two burned-out doctors who meet again in their most miserable moments and, of course, rekindle a romance.

This drama takes you back to your high school and work years, the contrasts and similarities between the two, and the feeling of being lost, figuring yourself out, and finding yourself again.

Hometown Cha Cha Cha

If you think of a seaside K drama, I am sure you will think of Hometown Cha Cha Cha (2021). In your career, there may be times you think of ploughing ahead and going up that ladder without really considering what you want in life. Sometimes, however, life decides for you to go at a slower pace.

This drama makes you appreciate the slower moments of life, just figuring yourself out and enjoying things that matter to you.

Yoon Hye Jin (portrayed by Shin Min-a), a successful dentist, decides to open a dental clinic at the seaside after her life derails. She then meets Hong Du-Sik (Kim Seon-ho), a jack of all trades who is her polar opposite. This enemies to lovers drama is a must for summer.
